Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Media Matters points to a sad yet somehow funny story about a foreign student who doesn't write or speak very good English whose paper was failed because of his lack of English skills.

"What," you may ask, "gives you the right to talk shit about this kid who obviously didn't know decent English?" Well, what gives me the right is that when his paper was failed, he started a firestorm that ended up with his appearance on Hannity & Colmes to say that the professor failed him because his paper was patriotic and pro-American.

Obviously, there's no way to know if the professor agreed with the paper's conclusions, but that's beside the point. If you read it, you'll see why it failed, regardless of political reasons. Here's a small quote directly from the paper:
"The United States constitution might have excluded the majority of people at the time. But it progressed and America like every nation in the world progressed and became a greater nation the constitution is now a document held in great esteem by Americans the Founding Fathers of America are greatly enshrined in dollar bills and the American people are proud of their country and history.
Run on sentences, lack of punctuation, and awful grammar like that are just all over this thing.

Even conservatives can smell the bullshit. James Joiner, a conservative blogger and political science professor, describes the paper as "an incredibly poorly written, error-ridden, pabulum-filled, essay that essentially ignores the question put forth by the instructor." Another conservative blogger, political science professor Steven Taylor, concluded: "I can see how this essay resulted in a failing grade."

The Media Matters story is technically about how Hannity & Colmes and David Horowitz ignored the facts when discussing this, but I don't really care so much about that as anyone can see that Sean Hannity is a fucktard.

I'll close this post with the inspiring conclusion to Ahmad's essay:
"America is a nation which has survived problems and many attacks on its soil yet the American will did not hesitate. America stood its ground and the Founding Fathers are the ones who built the Foundation that this ground were built upon. It is wonderful to have the freedom to argue Dye and Zeigler contentions and that is also due to the US constitution.

If the constitution was so negative then how did the United States the most powerful nation in the world today. If it was so negative how did the Soviet Union collapse in the Cold War? The United States constitution is a great document which for its time was extremely progressive and the evidence to the that is the United States’ accomplishments to date.
