I see and admire your manner of liv-ing. . . . You can do almost what you choose. You whites possess the power of subduing almost every animal to your use. You are surrounded by slaves. Everything about you is in chains, and you are slaves yourselves. I fear that if I should exchange my pursuits for yours, I, too, should become a slave.

Raw Story has an interview with former UN Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter, wherein he discusses Iran's lack of a nuclear program, rigged Iraqi elections, and other interesting information. It's a pretty good interview, but I gotta say, Raw Story needs to do some better spell-checking. They make themselves look third-rate when they spell "ballots" as "balads." Anyway, check out part 1 of the interview. There will be 3 parts total.

I have a serious problem with one thing that Ritter says in the interview. They ask him about Iran's nuclear weapons program, and he says they definitely don't have an active program, at least not in any stage that could really produce nukes. Then, he says that he doesn't think that anyone's selling them nukes, and he doesn't think Russia would sell them nukes. However, here's his argument for why:
Why would Putin allow a system to exist that puts on the market nuclear grade material that would be bought by people who want to destroy him, like the Chechens for example, who have high placed financiers in the Islamic fundamentalist world. It is ludicrous to think that the Russians would embrace a system that would lead to their own destruction… to make what, a little bit of money?
Um, you mean like how the united states funded and gave weapons to bin Laden? And Saddam? The idea that Russia wouldn't support Iran for these reasons is completely naive. I'm surprised someone like Ritter would make statements like this, so I have to question his integrity and his competency, even though what he says is politically expedient for me. I like the idea that Iran doesn't have nukes, because hopefully we can use that to keep the U.S. from bombing them. I doubt it, because it didn't work with Iraq, but at least it's something.
