You have an emotional need to look at what's going on inside yourself and in the world around you -- at all the craziness -- and say, "I'm going to be happy anyway. I've made a conscious decision. We either cry or we dance. I've decided to dance."

US scientists say they can explain why some people 'see' colours when they look at numbers and letters.

As many as one in 2,000 people has an extraordinary condition in which the five senses intermingle, called synaesthesia.

I can remember asking my mom when I was little if she thought of colors whenever she thought of certain numbers, like I always saw 3 as green. She joked with me that I was too young to be taking acid. I didn't really get the joke 'till later in life, but anyway, this is a condition I most definitely have. It makes meditating to music a very interesting experience to say the least.

I see music, and have spatial-sequence synesthaesia. My twin sister smells colors. I remember being a small child that certain names would trigger sounds or sights, usually weird colors and some weird combination of xylophonic sounds. (Sadly I no longer experience this)

I only wish others could see as I do. I say I have 6 or 7 senses, because seeing music is impossible to describe, like describing sight to a blind man or sound to a deaf man.
