Point your guns in the opposite direction. You have far more in common with us than with those you’re protecting, and you have more to fear from them than from us. Fire your tear gas and rubber bullets at those who partition the planet, who try to tell us everything can be bought and sold, everything belongs to those who have money, everything belongs to those in power, everything belongs to them.

"There are two sides to everything. A right one, and a wrong one."

That's apparently how some people think. The quote comes from a guy in a forum today.

He's right, you know. Only two sides. To EVERYTHING. No more, no less. A right one, and a wrong one.

Courtesy Dr. SeussDo you know how The Butter Battle Book ends?

I told the guy that the idea that EVERYTHING had a right and a wrong side is crazy, and here is his response:

"The Holy Father Pope Benedict has spoken strongly about these basic principles and the need to cast off the dictatorship of moral relativism which really amounts to self-worship."

Don't you see the problem with saying that EVERYTHING is only right or wrong? Ok, I can understand saying that some things are right and wrong. I don't necessarily know if I agree with it, and I am for the most part a relativist, but at least the idea that SOME things have a right and wrong side only has some merit. That's an opinion which is defensible and arguable. I'm not a complete relativist, however, because relativism states that there's never a right or wrong, which means that whether relativism is correct is relative. That means that it, in itself, is a logical fallacy.

To say that EVERYTHING has a right and wrong way is to literally say that there is a right and wrong way to butter your bread. It IS ludicrous.

I mean, am I crazy? Or are there definitely some things that just can't be cut into two sides? I had no idea anyone thought that way. I knew that there were people who believed that even most things had a right and wrong side. But EVERYTHING?
