Hybrid Car Gas / CO2 / Money savings calculator:
With gas at $2 per gallon (which will quickly increase), my current car (Pontiac Bonneville) getting 20 mpg, and driving 56 miles per day, if I bought a Toyota Prius, I'd save:
$108 per month, $1307 per year, $13,074 in 10 years. The Prius costs around $20,000, so that means it would pay for itself in 20 years. Of course, I wouldn't keep it 20 years, but with any luck I'd get an even more fuel efficient / no gas car within the next several years.
