Well, President-Elect Obama, you did it. I'm glad I helped, and I'm glad you won. You were the best of all the choices available, in my opinion, including any of the non-majority parties.

I'm proud of my country tonight for electing, for the first time, a man who is not white and was not raised in a typical American manner. I'm so, so proud.

Now, I admire you for acknowledging this, but the task ahead is going to be difficult. If you can help repair this country in the way you think you can, I'll be very impressed. Please, sir, we've given you an amazing opportunity... don't let it pass you buy, and don't make us regret it.

Your story is as American as they come. You come from a multi-racial and muti-religious background. Your father was a Muslim, your mother was non-religious (I hope you learned some things from her), and you were raised a Christian. You grew up inside and outside of the U.S. You are a mix of several "races."

How could you be any more American?

I am so proud.

Thank you for helping to change this country, and please keep it up.

UPDATE: Holy crap, my crazy, "if the world goes mad" prediction of 351 electoral votes for Obama was BELOW the final amount, which looks like it's going to be 375! I couldn't be more glad about being wrong.

Obama :)

I would like to thank you for this post. Regrettably, most of my 'friends' on Facebook voted for McCain and have been subjecting me to their warped "the world is going to end" blogs and comments. Especially when I posted that I had voted for Obama myself. My religion and sanity were questioned. Combine that with a work enviroment comprised of all McCain supporters who about flogged me when I came into work at midnight yelling "he won"....they didn't think it was so funny when the "he" I was talking about was Obama. So, rambling aside, I want to thank you. Thank you for a breath of fresh air and something postive for a change. I really really am glad to have a friend with brains. :D
