This epidemiologist has some pretty interesting insights and analysis about the flu. I don't understand all of the genetics, but she's saying it seems possible that this flu originated in Ohio - in 2007 - and not in Mexico. It's not confirmed, and there is some argument, but I wish I understood this stuff more. I guess that's what science bloggers are for :) UPDATE: Actually looking like the ohio connection isn't very likely if you read the update and the comments here.

Also interesting is in Mexico - where they were saying 150 deaths due to the virus - they're now saying... 7. 7 deaths, not 150.
