Dirty Greek - The RNC's obvious respect for the law
Politics : The RNC's obvious respect for the law

Well, it looks like the RNC is out to make sure that campaign finance laws are followed to the T. After all, I'm sure they've never been involved in any minor breaches of those laws, right?
"The Republican National Committee is warning television stations across the country not to run ads from the MoveOn.org Voter Fund that criticize President Bush, charging that the left-leaning political group is paying for them with money raised in violation of the new campaign-finance law.
Of course, this has nothing to do with the content of the advertisements, says the RNC, but the fact that they were "illegally funded." Obviously, they're not the least bit worried about, say, the completely obvious true statements about the Bush administration that the advertisements bring to light. Of course, according to them, the allegations in the advertisements are "misleading." They'll handle that part later, they say, but first they just want to make sure the law is upheld.
"The RNC has complained that though it is no longer allowed to use soft money for campaigning, MoveOn.org is accepting large soft money contributions from a cadre of wealthy donors, including billionaire financier George Soros and film producer Steven Bing, in its quest to defeat the president.
Perhaps someone can explain to me or to the RNC what the legal differences are between them and MoveOn.org, because I'm honestly not sure of the legality of it all. What I am sure of, however, is that the RNC is absolutely NOT just worried about the legality of the situation.
