We don't need no mass confusion; we don't need no constitution; we don't need no President to tell us we're free. Everybody wants a little taste of anarchy.

Looks like an emotional GHW is defending his little boy's decision to play war in Iraq.
"It is "deeply offensive and contemptible" to hear "elites and intellectuals on the campaign trail" dismiss progress in Iraq since last year's overthrow of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, the elder Bush said in a speech to the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association annual convention.

"There is something ignorant in the way they dismiss the overthrow of a brutal dictator and the sowing of the seeds of basic human freedom in that troubled part of the world," he said.

The former president appeared to fight back tears as he complained about media coverage of the younger Bush that he called "something short of fair and balanced."
Now, the first funny point about this statement is how George Herbert Walker Bush, ex-president, rich as hell, connected so deeply into the elite of America is dismissing anyone as "elites and intellectuals."

The less funny and more disturbing point is that he makes it sound as though critics of the war are "dismiss[ing] the overthrow of a brutal dictator and the sowing of the seeds of basic human freedom in that troubled part of the world." Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm absolutely ecstatic that Saddam's no longer in power. The questions of the war, however, very rarely fall on whether or not Saddam was a brutal dictator. Mr. Bush, the question is whether or not your son and his gang of thugs lied to the world.

I understand that being a father, it's often difficult to see the truth about your son. My parents have often turned the other cheek when they knew I was causing trouble. They did not, however, go out and tell everyone in the world that they didn't think I was causing problems when they obviously knew I did.
