Followers following fables, philosophies that enable them to rule without regard. There's no point for democracy when ignorance is celebrated. Majority rule don't work in mental institutions. Sometimes the smallest softest voice carries the grand, biggest solutions.

Dirty Greek - Another day, another Bush bashing

And you know, I often sit around and wonder why it is that most of my posts are about Bush. There are SO many other problems I could be facing: dismantling the control structures inherent in our society, railing against the drug war, trying to stop corporate control over an endlessly growing amount of the world... and to an extent, I do go after those problems. But the Bushies just make it so easy! Every single day, all I have to do is read an article about them, and I find something heart-wrenchingly simple to bitch about. I know that in a way, that makes me lazy but.... I'm lazy... so I guess that makes sense.

Anyway, I'm trying to do more than this, but again today I have another easy target: Bush family connections with the Saudis. Now, I've written about our administration's deep ties to this terror-supporting state, who would be part of the "axis of evil" if they didn't supply us with more oil than any other nation and didn't fund a large part of GW's 2000 campaign and the Bushs themselves. There's obvious favoritism and weird connections going on when you hear that the U.S. government allowed the transportation of a large number of Saudi royals and Bin Laden's family members from the U.S. on 9/11, AFTER we had decided that Bin Laden was responsible and all air traffic was supposed to be shut down.

Today's story comes from the Bob Woodward book, Plan of Attack, in which he tells us that the administration wanted to attack Iraq from day 1, which isn't much of a surprise and that a deal was struck with Saudi Arabia to decrease oil prices near the election so that the economy was in good shape when the elections happened, thereby giving GW the upper hand.
Amid concerns that plans by OPEC to cut oil production could raise prices even further, Prince Bandar went to the White House April 1 to meet with National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and to deliver a message to Bush from Crown Prince Abdullah, the de facto Saudi ruler.

Afterward, he told reporters that Saudi Arabia is committed to heading off any shortages in the world energy market.

"We will not allow shortages in the market because that will hurt the world economy," he said. "Saudi Arabia does not live on the moon. When the world economy gets hurt, we get hurt also."
Bandar, of course, is the Bush family's favorite Saudi royal. He's known by the family as "Bandar Bush," because George Senior likes him so much he considers him family. Obviously, Bandar returns the sentiment.

I'll write more about Woodward later, but I just think this is the most important claim he makes. If it's true, it provides us with new and overwhelming reasons to get GW the fuck out of the White House come November. I'll deal with Kerry once Bush is out of the way, and believe me, deal I will.
