So I'm up at dawn, puttin' on my shoes. I just wanna make a clean escape; I'm leavin', but I don't know where to.

Dirty Greek - Rumsfeld should be fired
War : Rumsfeld should be fired

And so should the rest of them. Let's fire them all on November 2.

I was listening to some of Rumsfeld's testimony today, and some of what he did (dodging questions, rearranging statements, etc... what they always do when they're being questioned) was appauling. What was equally appauling, if not more so, was Senator Lieberman's comments, which were something to the effect of (paraphrased)
I just can't help but point out that though we've apologized for these acts, which were indeed dispicable, I can't help but say that the people who attacked us on September 11 never apologized. The insurgents who are attacking our men and women in uniform, who are trying to liberate the people of Iraq, have never apologized. The people who burned and dragged the bodies of those people in Fallujah never apologized. We have apologized, and that's what makes Americans better.
Again, that's paraphrased, but the point is very clear.

Anyway, on to Rumsfeld. Though he should be fired rather than resign, he did say today that he might be open to offering a resignation if it would help the situation. He also says that there are more videos, and he was heckled when he tried to speak.

OH, and apparently a year before the Iraq invasion, the then-Army secretary warned his Pentagon bosses that there was inadequate control of private military contractors, which are now at the heart of controversies over misspending and prisoner abuse. Obviously, that memo wasn't taken into much consideration.

UPDATE: Here's Lieby's quote:
LIEBERMAN: Thank you, Mr. Chairman.

Mr. Secretary, the behavior by Americans at the prison in Iraq is, as we all acknowledge, immoral, intolerable and un-American. It deserves the apology that you have given today and that have been given by others in high positions in our government and our military.

I cannot help but say, however, that those who were responsible for killing 3,000 Americans on September 11th, 2001, never apologized. Those who have killed hundreds of Americans in uniform in Iraq working to liberate Iraq and protect our security have never apologized.

LIEBERMAN: And those who murdered and burned and humiliated four Americans in Fallujah a while ago never received an apology from anybody.
Brown people! Jeeeez!
