Dirty Greek - Power-Fighting Magazines

Today I'd like to give you some information about my favorite magazines. Until lately, I haven't been too interested in magazines except for the occasional Rolling Stone, but I've come to realize that there are quite a few mags out there that fuel the rebellion.

One of my favorites, I think, is The Progressive. With columnists such as Howard Zinn and Molly Ivins, it's hard to go wrong. The Progressive has been around since 1909, and it's been attacking the establishment ever since.

Another important and revolutionary scroll is The Nation. Eric Alterman and Alexander Cockburn make The Nation great, and it's apparently been fighting the good fight since 1865.

Z Magazine, home to U.S. foreign policy watchdog Noam Chomsky, has only been around since 1987, but it doesn't lack anything that The Progressive and The Nation have. Its biting commentary and scathing cartoons make it a good read every time.

Green Anarchy is more of a fringe publication, fiercly anarchist and anti-authoritarian and a bit militant. Always encouraging non-violent direct action, GA tries to peacefully take down this behemoth we call civilization and return our society to a peaceful and ecologically sound one.

Last, but certainly not least, Mother Jones. Named after Mary Harris "Mother" Jones, a feisty labor activist who died in 1930, it shares her passion and resolve. Don't miss Jason Vest in this publication.
