Why deliberately go poking around among nasty, disreputable ideas? Why look under rocks? I do it, first of all, for the same reason I did look under rocks as a kid: plain curiosity. And I'm especially curious about anything that's forbidden... And you especially need a brain that's in the habit of going where it's not supposed to.

Dirty Greek - Does Kerry want compulsory military service?
Politics : Does Kerry want compulsory military service?

Perhaps not a DRAFT, per se, but more like what many European countries have - a compulsory year or two in the military at a certain age.
On C-Span this morning John Kerry's foreign policy advisor Jeffrey Smith asserted that he had "long thought that some kind of national universal service" was in order, but that Kerry "has not taken a position yet" (he later corrected himself and stated that Kerry has not supported the reinstatement of a military draft -- hardly a refutation of the idea of "national service," however).

This must be taken with this morning's press reports that Sen. John Kerry "promised yesterday to add 20,000 combat soldiers and 20,000 support troops to the U.S. Army."

And everyone still grabs hold of him tightly screaming "ANYONE BUT BUSH" as they are forced to march...
