The truly wise seek unity, embrace oneness, and become examples for all the world. Not revealing themselves, they shine; not self-righteous, they are distinguished; not self-centered, they are famous; not seeking glory, they are leaders.

Dirty Greek - House votes to block aide to Saudi Arabia

You know, I really hate this stuff. It's not that I disagree that Saudi Arabia's government is trouble; it certainly is. But I'm very much against our deciding not to help the PEOPLE of a country because their GOVERNMENT, which they have no control over, is causing problems.
Lawmakers cheered as the House of Representatives voted on Thursday to strip financial assistance for Saudi Arabia from a foreign aid bill because of criticism that the country has not been sufficiently cooperative in the U.S. war on terror.

The vote was a stinging defeat for the Bush Administration which had strongly opposed the measure saying it would "severely undermine" counterterrorism cooperation with Saudi Arabia and U.S. efforts for peace in the Middle East.

The House voted 217-191 to remove $25,000 in the $19.4 billion 2005 foreign aid bill earmarked for Saudi Arabia.
The other thing, though, is that we better be fucking careful, because 60% of Saudi Arabia's investments are directly or indirectly inside the U.S. Our economy is heavily based on Saudi Investment. That sucks, to be sure, but if they don't want an economic collapse, they better either not piss off the Saudis or find another source of capital. I, of course, am for the latter.
