"Introductory comment by Sami Ramadai: This is a must read article, in the current web edition of Newsweek, chillingly entitled "The Salvador Option". It reveals in some detail the terrorist methods the US is adopting in Iraq. However, the writer is being a bit disingenuous in discussing the issue in the future tense, while ignoring the already Pentagon-confirmed Seymour Hirsh reports. Those reports revealed, as far back as December 2003, the training of US special forces on assassination techniques. The trainers included Israeli experts and part of the programme, which was based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, took place in Israel itself. It is becoming increasingly clear as to who is behind and benefits from the assassination of tens of academics, scientists, Shia and Sunni clerics, and Christians, and the bombing of churches and mosques. The writers say: "The interim government of Prime Minister Ayad Allawi is said to be among the most forthright proponents of the Salvador option. Maj. Gen. Muhammad Abdallah al-Shahwani, director of Iraq’s National Intelligence Service, may have been laying the groundwork for the idea with a series of interviews during the past ten days." But they don't tell us what General Shahwani's previous job was, because they have something to hide. For Shahwani was one of Saddam's intelligence chiefs in Baghdad with a reputation for brutality.
